Course Title: Junior High Coding
Course Description: We will be learning basic block programming using Lego building projects and a Lego application.
Big Ideas: We code using six units and word block coding and python:
1.Life Hacks
2.Invention Squad
3.Supplementary Lessons
4.Training Trackers
5.Kickstart a Business
6.Competition Ready

Important: The Lego kit students are working with includes 528 pieces. Some of these pieces are expensive. Damaged or lost items will be charged (at the cost to replace the item) equally among the pair of students using the kit. If you would like to obtain a parts and cost list for the items in the Lego kit, please contact Mrs. Owen.

Classroom rules:
- Respect others and their property
- Have all materials, and have them ready to use when the bell rings
- Be polite and helpful
- Don’t curse or swear
- No cheating*
Consequences:
- First offense: Warning
- Second offense: Short conference with student
- Third offense: Student will be sent to ISS

Procedures:
- Doing assigned work
- Group work will be assigned during every class meeting. If your partner is absent for the day, you will be working alone.
- We will be working on computers.
- If you are absent
- If you are absent, you will be graded for the portion of the unit or project that you were available to complete. You will need to come to academic success to complete the project individually if your attendance negatively impacts your grade.
- Late work
- Completing work late puts you at a disadvantage in class. I strongly encourage you to complete your work on time.
- Entering the classroom
- Enter the classroom.
- Gather materials needed for class.
- Go to your assigned seat.
- Leaving the classroom for any reason
- Obtain my permission to leave the classroom.
- End-of-period class dismissal
- I will dismiss you at the end of class. Remain seated and working until I dismiss you.
- Do not pack up before I give you permission to.
- Food and Drink
- No food or drink will be allowed in the classroom.
- Electronic Devices
- Use of electronic devices is not allowed unless directed by the teacher.
